The Seaquist Family
Dale Seaquist and his son Jim are partners in Seaquist Orchards. Dale's wife Kristin and Jim's wife Robin work in the business also. Dale and son Zach are involved in equipment maintenance, fruit harvest and readying the Seaquist Processing plant for the busy harvest season. Jim manages the plant, along with overseeing all aspects of the business entities. Robin manages the business office and Kristin manages the farm market.
We feel fortunate that each member of our family enjoys their job and is able to contribute in a positive way. As the next generation of Seaquist children begin planning for their future, we hope that we can provide business opportunities for all who would like to become involved.
Seaquist Orchards
As of 2004, Seaquist Orchards consists of 653 acres of cherries, along with 30 acres of apples and a few acres of raspberries, apricots and pears. These numbers change, as new acreage is purchased or leased. The bulk of the cherries raised are of the Montmorency variety, a tart cherry used for baking. Several varieties of sweet cherries are raised also. Most of the Montmorency cherries are processed at Seaquists Processing where about 2/3 of the cherries raised in Door County are processed and packed. Fresh, hand-picked cherries, both tart and sweet, are sold directly to the consumer from Seaquist Orchards Farm Market.
Seaquist Processing
In 2003 Seaquist Processing packed over 8.2 million pounds of cherries. Seaquist Orchards is the major producer of the fruit processed in our plant. We also receive fruit from other Door County growers. Most of the fruit is packed in 30 lb. containers and shipped nationwide. We also pack 2 lb., 5 lb. 10 lb. sugared or un-sugared cherries for retail sales from Seaquist Orchards Farm Market.
